Testimonial for Quality Nutcracker (September 2019)
I did lots of research online specifically looking for a mechanism to crack the hardest nut, the black walnut. I found flaws in most of them. Many of the models tended to smash the nut, or grind it, so that there were many pieces of shell mixed with the nuts. OUCH. And the pieces of nuts were so small. I could get the same effect smashing with a hammer. Other models would tire out and hurt your wrist or hand after a short while. Double ouch.
When I saw the video online of the Quality Nutcracker, I could see that because the model was bigger than most other crackers, it has a lot of leverage, which means less work for a little old lady like me (66). When I received my Quality Nutcracker in the mail I went right to work cracking my black walnuts which I had stored for over a year. It worked fantastic. Putting the nuts in the corner as instructed and gently lowering the handle till it cracks. I turned the nut to crack it a few more times gently and used the point to crack in a specific place on the nut.
I was then able to get out large pieces of the nut. I never even knew the great flavor of black walnuts as I had never been able to get pieces this large.
I know that as I learn to utilize all the different features, I will be able to perfect the art of operating this amazing machine. No smashing or crushing, no aching or hurting hands. Just gentle, strong and effective at producing Large results (pieces). And I can use it for all types of nuts, so this will be the first and last cracker I need to buy.
